Following Golden, a solo show at Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester, Golden (Lessons) took the form of an exhibition and research residency at Beaconsfield, London, punctuated and animated by a series of on- and off-site events and interventions.
The existing works, Vistas and Songs (2005), were installed in Beaconsfield’s Lower Space, while Years (2006) was installed in the Arch Space, projected onto opposing tarpaulin screens. A new installation in the Upper Space became the stage and site of convergence for a number of public events: Trialogue (with Sonia Boyce, Joanne Morra, Irit Rogoff, and Naomi Siderfin); DIY Ballroom (improvised sessions led by Jenevieve Chang and Annie Pui Ling Lok); the flash-mob inspired Mobile Chorus and Mobile Ballroom; and Golden Hour, a closing party and broadcast on Resonance fm.
