GOLDEN HOUR

Golden Hour (2006) is an audio work developed during Golden (Lessons) an exhibition and research residency at Beaconsfield, London, punctuated by a series of live events and performance interventions. Golden (Lessons) took up motifs of ballroom and song as vehicles of nostalgia, aspiration and cultivation, continuing an ongoing series of work developed under the rubric Golden.

A non-stop, makeshift medley of ‘melodies for dancing and dreaming’, Golden Hour navigates through the artist’s father’s 1960s vinyl collection of Western ballroom and Chinese pop, encountered as an uninterrupted index of opening and closing bars. Previewed at the beginning of the residency, Golden Hour was remixed and broadcast on Resonance 104.4FM at its close.

Golden Hour is currently installed at the Diaspora Pavilion, Palazzo Pisani Santa Marina, Venice, until 26 November 2017.
