(In)Direct Speech: ‘Chineseness’ in Contemporary Art Discourse and Practice – 16-19 March 2015, University of Lisbon

susan pui san lok will be presenting a paper, ‘SPSL – A to Y (Revisited)’, at the international symposium, ‘(In)direct speech: “Chineseness” in contemporary art discourse and practice – art markets, curatorial practices and creative processes’. The symposium is the first jointly organized event by the Artistic Studies Research Centre in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Lisbon University, represented by Rui Oliveira Lopes, and the Cluster-Chair of Global Art History of Heidelberg University, represented by Franziska Koch, and celebrates the launch of the International Research Network for Modern and Contemporary Chinese Art. The symposium programme includes keynotes from Keith Wallace (Editor-in-Chief, Yishu: Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art, and Associate Director/Curator of the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, University of British Columbia); Katie Hill (Deputy Principal Editor, Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art and Director, Office of Contemporary Chinese Art); and Carol Yinghua Lu (curator, art critic, writer and contributing editor, Frieze).
